Back with a Bang: Mathsplosion returns to Newcastle
Annual two-day enrichment event, Mathsplosion, recently returned to the Life Science Centre in Newcastle and was once again a favourite with students and staff. We hosted over 200 Year 10 students from 17 different schools from across the North East.

Aviation Challenge 2019 comes to Hartlepool
The annual Aviation Challenge returned to Hartlepool FE College on Wednesday 3 July. Teams of 4 Year 12 students from 12 schools across the North East took part in this challenge to design, build and fly a model glider.

Responding to requests from schools with Participation Plans, the North East AC team have been providing revision and enrichment events for schools covering the new A level.

Random Walks with Zombies
Having spent time delivering some A level revision classes around the region, we decided to modify and adapt these classes into a two hour enrichment session, which we delivered at Wolsingham School to a mixture of Year 9 and 10 students.

Upcoming PD events on using technology
Use of technology by both students and teachers is a key aspect of the new A levels. The AMSP are keen to support the use of technology in the classroom and to develop teachers’ confidence and skills in this area.

Maths Feast success in the North East
In the North East, 32 teams have taken part in this year’s Year 10 Maths Feast competitions. So far, events have been held at Northumbria University and The Sjovall Centre in Durham, and at time of writing, we still have two more Feasts taking place at Teeside University and King Edward VI High School in Morpeth.
