By supporting maths education, you can really make a difference in helping to improve young people’s opportunities while at the same time improving your talent pipeline and supporting inclusion and diversity within your workplace.

You can help us make a real difference locally, regionally, or nationally.

What can you offer?

Here are some suggestions:

Our Which Career? Panel events for years 9 to 11 are very popular with schools and aim to inspire students by showcasing various careers that use maths. Panellists briefly share their career journey and experiences with maths and offer real-life advice to students in the Q&A session. The total length of these sessions are 45 minutes.

Get in touch via email if you are interested in joining one of our panels: [email protected]

An opportunity to meet and work with local students and teachers face to face at one of our Enrichment events. These vary from a one-hour session in a particular school to a half or whole-day event where schools from across the region are invited. These are often held in Universities or other large meeting spaces and are free of charge to state secondary schools, with subsidies offered to those from disadvantaged areas. There is always a focus on where maths can take you, so the activities that are likely to be included are Career panels, Speed networking, workshop activities and plenary talks. Setting foot in a workplace is not something that young people do very often, but we know they find it inspiring!

You can get involved as little or as much as you want with the planning and delivery of an event. You could simply provide the venue or deliver some of the workshops yourselves. The aim is to demonstrate how maths skills are valuable and transferable into the world of work. Your Local Area Coordinator will work with you throughout the whole process.

We would love to work with you in helping students understand your business and see maths’ part in its success. We can work closely with you to develop resources which we can share with over 1000 secondary schools in England that we work with.

Why should you support maths education?

You will be supporting schools to achieve the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Practice. Particularly Benchmark 4 – Linking the Curriculum to Careers and Benchmark 5 – Encounters with Employers.

To enable students to discover the pathways to an exciting and fulfilling career.

Getting involved in activities for students is great for your staff development. By acting as brand ambassadors, they will develop their communication skills and build confidence.

You will be helping to make the maths that young people study more accessible and more relevant to an increasingly scientific, technical, and data-driven world.

You will enable young people to see the many ways that maths is used in your industry and to motivate them in their learning
