The AMSP already offers an extensive range of professional development and support to introduce Core Maths. However, we know that in some cases it takes one-to-one support, tailored around your school or college’s individual circumstances, to make Core Maths a thriving part of your provision. That’s why we’re pleased to launch our Core Maths Specialist Leads programme.
Our leads are all experienced teachers of Core Maths who have significantly developed the delivery of the course within their own settings. They are now working with the AMSP to share this experience and support you on your journey of offering Core Maths.
This support might include:
- strengthening and sustaining your current Core Maths offering
- developing cross-curricular links
- helping to develop a Core Maths culture within your school or college
Core Maths Specialist Lead support is currently available through academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24, so this would be an ideal time to get in touch if you are considering adding Core Maths to your curriculum offer in September 2023.
What is Core Maths?
Core Maths is a relatively new qualification first examined in 2016. Currently there are over 12,000 entries per year and close to 700 state-funded schools and colleges offered the course in 2020-21.
