Core Maths Specification Networks
Core Maths Specification Networks are designed to provide you with the opportunity to discuss and share your experiences and develop your practice around the teaching of Core Maths with teachers who are following the same specification as you. Each network will be led by AMSP Core Maths champions with experience of teaching the specification your network is focussing on.
For our Specification Networks you will only need to sign up once. Subsequently, you will be automatically emailed the Zoom link each time the network runs. Each network will meet five times in the year (one instance will coincide with the publication of the pre-release source materials for your specification) and whilst we would encourage you to attend as many of these as possible, we understand that this may not be feasible on all occasions.
Who will benefit from attending?
These networks are designed for anyone already teaching Core Maths, regardless of your experience. The networks will be led by participants as well as AMSP facilitators, and we encourage you to attend if you like to share, discuss and collaborate.
If you are looking for a course more tailored towards Core Maths subject knowledge we suggest you consider our 8 week live online professional development course or our on demand professional development courses for Core Maths.
There will be separate groups for each Core Maths syllabus so you have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers who are teaching the same content.
The following groups are available and can be booked by clicking on the thumbnails at the bottom of this page. Please note thumbnails appear in chronological order.
AQA 2A: Statistical Techniques - Due to popular demand, there are two different networks for AQA 2A teachers.
AQA 2B: Critical Path and Risk Analysis
AQA 2C: Graphical Techniques
OCR A and B: This operates as one network initally.
Edexcel: Mathematics in Context
You are welcome to join more than one group.
Groups will meet five times in the academic year. Sessions will last for 90 minutes.
Materials and Equipment
We aim to emulate as much of the ‘face-to-face’ experience as possible and hope that these groups will form supportive communities. Participants should expect to be proactive in communicating during sessions, so the use of microphones is mandatory. Additionally, we also strongly encourage you to attend with a web-cam.
Core Maths Specification Networks will be limited in size and places will be issued on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Teachers joining the newtork for the first time will be emailed in the days prior to the session and again on the day of the session with a link to the online meeting room. Once you have signed up for the network you will automatically be informed of the date of the next instance as soon as it has been decided so that you will know well in advance of the session. There will be no need for you to re-apply each time the network runs.
The sessions are free of charge to all teachers from state-funded schools and colleges.
