ReadThere are many reasons why the Core Maths course is such an exciting and invigorating course to teach. By centring maths within context, the Core Maths student gets to experience how maths provides a set of tools with which to understand the world; for many on this course this can be transformative and, in many cases, alters their perception of what maths is.
ReadFebruary 2022 saw the first face-to-face Maths Feasts take place since March 2020. We had the pleasure of running one of the first Maths Feasts in the South West region this year, and it was amazing to see the students working collaboratively as a team on the different rounds within the Feast
ReadMy Core Maths students are just starting mocks and revision. When I asked what they wanted to revisit, one of my classes answered in unison with, “Everything we’ve done online!”
ReadFollowing 18 months of online professional development and enrichment, it was an absolute delight for the AMSP to work collaboratively with BCP (Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch) Council and the Jurassic Maths Hub to put on a face-to-face student enrichment event on Thursday 16 September 2021.
ReadThe Year 13 Regular Problem Solving classes have run in Bath and Cheltenham in some form or another for nearly 10 years.
ReadTeacher Network meetings have taken place across the South West region this term and, for many of us, the first meeting of this term focused on opening doors for students with discussions based around opportunities for engaging Year 10 and 11 students in maths post-16 and helping them to make informed choices for their next step.
