We are excited to announce that our Extended Professional Development courses are open for applications.

The next round of courses will start in the new academic year, September, and run for several months.
If you are new to teaching a specific subject area or would like to refresh your practice, these courses provide comprehensive support for specific areas of the A level Mathematics or Further Mathematics curriculum.

Teaching A level Mathematics (TAM) – A 12 month course, including 6 face-to-face study days
Perfect for those who are new to teaching A level. Working in small groups with two dedicated tutors and the opportunity for feedback on an observed lesson. TAM focuses on the pure content in A level Mathematics
Choose from: Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, and York

We are also running several blended delivery courses over six months, featuring regular online sessions and two face-to-face study days:

Teaching Statistics 1 (TS1) – Applied content in A level Mathematics
Study days – choice of London or Leeds

Teaching Mechanics 1 (TM1) – Applied content in A level Mathematics
Study days – choice of London or Manchester

Teaching Further Mathematics 1 (TFM1) – Support for the compulsory pure content of A level Further Mathematics.
Study days – choice of London or Manchester

Participating teachers will have access to dedicated course resources and get the chance to work with like-minded colleagues. TM1 and TFM1 offer a choice of study days in London or Manchester, and TS1 offers a choice of London or Leeds.

New for this year!

Teaching Discrete Maths (TD) – This course provides a grounding in the discrete/decision maths content of A level Mathematics.

TD replaces TD1 and TD2 and covers all topics common to multiple specifications. In Autumn 2023, this blended course will be offered with London-based study days on weekdays. Subject to demand, it will run again in Spring 2024 with the option of attending study days on Saturdays.

All courses are free for teachers in state-funded schools and colleges in England.
Subsidies to help towards supply cover and travel costs are available to schools and colleges in targeted areas
