AS and A level Mathematics are two separate qualifications. All of the assessment of A level Mathematics takes place at the end of the course, and exam questions may draw on the content of the whole A level.
The subject content of AS and A level Mathematics is the same for all of the English specifications and has been defined by the government. There are three overarching themes:
- Mathematical argument, language and proof
- Mathematical problem solving
- Mathematical modelling
There is also a requirement for the use of technology to permeate teaching and learning.
