On Wednesday 15 January, we held our largest Year 12 Problem Solving Conference to date at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne, Dorset. Over 160 students and 16 teachers from schools across Dorset and South Wiltshire participated in this introduction to higher level problem solving.

As in previous years, participants sampled university entrance test problems, learned the importance of communicating their written answers, and worked collaboratively on a range of problems and puzzles in the Fun Maths Roadshow. In addition, this year we had the privilege to be joined by the author of Risps, Jonny Griffiths. He explored innovative approaches to problem solving, with a particular focus on the Pigeon Hole Method. The lucky winners of the Fun Maths Roadshow also won a copy of Jonny’s latest book, Further Risps, for their school!

Look out for similar events running in Taunton on Thursday 25 June and in Bath in July.
