The very first Year 10 Maths Enrichment Morning in Southampton took place at Redbridge School on Wednesday 9 November.
Eighty students from Redbridge, Regent’s Park, Cantell, Bitterne Park and Upper Shirley High took part in this event, featuring a talk from Jo Denton highlighting maths-related careers, a highly contested team quiz, and the inspiring Ben Sparks who enthralled everyone with his talk on the “Creation of Number”.
The students enjoyed the day immensely, with Redbridge teacher, Mrs Thompson, saying: “The students were buzzing when they arrived to my lesson today…!”
This is just the start in terms of enrichment for schools in Southampton this year, with a Year 9 enrichment event, a Year 10 Maths Feast and a Year 12 Steps to University for Mathematical Students event all happening in the city in the next few months – exciting times!
