Last term saw many heats of the Senior Team Maths Challenge (STMC) competitions across the country. It was good to see students in the South enjoying the challenge and satisfaction of the puzzles, and even some very brave teams from schools without a sixth form competed effectively with only Year 11 students. Congratulations and best wishes to our winners who will be representing the South in the national final in February!

Our first place winners at each heat were:

  • Aylesbury Grammar School
  • Bede’s School
  • Bellerby’s College Brighton
  • Eaton College
  • Hampton School
  • Oxford International College
  • Royal Grammar School Guildford
  • Tonbridge School
  • Winchester College
  • Wycombe Abbey School

We wish them every success at the final.

With memories of Christmas dinner quickly fading into the past, can the AMSP tempt you to another Feast to brighten up the winter months? Our Maths Feasts are another opportunity for your students to have fun competing with other schools and develop their problem-solving skills and teamwork at the same time. If you haven’t already entered a team, you can register on our website.

If you have a particularly enthusiastic Year 10 group, you may be able to bring more than one team as many schools do. There are many heats taking place across the county in February and March. You can also access free practice resources and materials on our website, which make an excellent resource for a variety of maths problems to challenge and inspire your students.
