On 2 February, 20 students from the Newcastle area braved the snow and turned up at 9:15 on a Saturday morning for our latest Year 12/13 Problem Solving session at Gosforth Academy. We were very impressed by the positivity, creativity and resilience shown by the students as they tackled group challenges, Fermi estimation problems and general mathematical problems.
This was the latest in an ongoing series of sessions and there are similar events happening elsewhere in the region too. We hope to welcome more students to our future events so please encourage them to sign up via our website!
January saw the launch of our regular STEP preparation course at Newcastle University. This is a weekly opportunity for students to get face-to-face support in either preparing for an upcoming STEP exam, or simply to give themselves an extra challenge. We welcome both Year 12s and Year 13s at these sessions and it’s still not too late for students to sign up!
