The AMSP has developed a two-part online course, Setting Out In Problem Solving, designed primarily for Year 12 students who want to begin to develop their problem-solving skills. The course is also suitable for Year 13 students, and teachers who would like an introduction to problem solving and the admissions testing process.

Setting Out In Problem Solving will cover:

  • how to think about problem solving
  • techniques for tackling problems
  • writing up solutions to problem-solving activities
  • and information about university entrance examinations.

Participants will also have the chance to get hands-on with problem-solving activities.

Both 90-minute sessions will run online over two consecutive weeks, from 17:00-18:30, starting at the end of November. You can view more information and apply on the AMSP website.

This course is open to applications from schools and colleges in England who are registered with the AMSP for the academic year 2020-21. We only require one application from each school/college on behalf of all students and teachers that plan to attend. If you are not sure if your school or college is registered with the AMSP, please continue to submit an application for this course and we will automatically check this for you. If you know your school or college isn’t registered for 2020-21, you can register on the AMSP website.
