We are delighted to announce that our popular sustained professional development courses will return in early 2021 and are now open for applications. These comprehensive courses take place over six months and aim to inspire and support teachers of AS/A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. The courses focus on developing both subject knowledge and pedagogical skills, and are composed of online study sessions, access to online resources, and support from course tutors.

As a precaution, and to ensure the safety of all participants, all of our sustained courses have been adapted for entirely online delivery. However, we do value the opportunities and networking experiences that result from face-to-face study days. As such, for those courses which have study days, we’re keeping our approach under review. If it becomes appropriate and feasible to hold face-to-face study days during the course, we will offer you the choice of attending in this way, or to continue online.

Teaching Further Mathematics 1 (TFM1)

This course aims to support your teaching and understanding of A level Further Mathematics. TFM1 covers at least the pure material common to all AS level Further Mathematics specifications. We also run Teaching Further Mathematics 2 (TFM2) for those who have completed TFM1.

Teaching Mechanics

Our Teaching Mechanics courses aim to provide you with a deeper understanding of the principles of mechanics.

Teaching Statistics

Our Teaching Statistics courses aim to develop your understanding of statistics as a problem-solving discipline.

Teaching Discrete Mathematics 2 (TD2)

This course aims to support you with the application of optimisation procedures to a wide range of problems, particularly those encountered in the second year of A level Further Mathematics. TD2 covers the discrete/decision mathematics content for A level Further Mathematics.

We are waiving our usual course fee/reimbursement arrangements so that all of these courses are free of charge to teachers working in state-funded schools and colleges in England. For others the course fee is £300. Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of up to £500. Please visit our subsidies page for more information.
