I am really delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the West Midlands regional team and to be based at the University of Wolverhampton. My name is Steve Walters and I have been teaching maths since 1984, at several 11–18 schools in Wolverhampton and Shropshire. I have also taught GCSE Religious Studies. I have held a range of senior leadership posts ranging from Head of Maths up to, and including, Headteacher. I have presented sessions and workshops at many conferences covering a range of educational issues, including teaching and learning maths, interpreting and using data effectively, assessment, and challenging the most able. I have written four maths revision guides. I have been a senior A Level Mathematics examiner for many years. I also have experience of examining GCSE Mathematics and AS General Studies. I am an ordained Catholic Deacon and preach regularly.

I love listening to music, especially rock music, and attending concerts. My highlight of 2019 was seeing Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi, and The Eagles all within a few days of each other at Wembley Stadium. I attend Comic Cons regularly, being a big fan of sci-fi (especially Dr Who), horror films, and Marvel and DC Comics. I am a self-confessed Londonphile, and I love visiting and exploring the city’s attractions regularly with my family.
