I am delighted to introduce myself as the newest member of the AMSP East of England regional team. I will be taking over from Kristin Coldwell as your first point of contact if you are based in Norfolk. I aim to continue working and collaborating with teachers and students at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 to prepare and encourage them to study maths post-16 and beyond.
I have been teaching in 11-18 schools for 18 years, most recently as Curriculum Lead for Key Stage 5 and supporting level 3 mathematics as Core Maths lead for the Core Maths Support Programme. I continue to teach all level 3 qualifications.
I am particularly looking forward to providing support for Core Maths, which we are hoping will continue to establish itself as an essential qualification for those not wishing to study AS/A level Mathematics. This qualification plugs a gap which has been left open for too long, providing students with real-life mathematical skills that will be valued by employers and universities, as well as equipping students to manage their own personal finances. There are professional development opportunities running throughout the year for teachers of Core Maths.
As well as organising problem-solving classes and enrichment sessions for pupils, I am available to visit schools and clusters to deliver a range of enrichment sessions for Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils, to attend staff meetings and to support local networks. I will try do so at your convenience; please do get in touch, and I look forward to working with you.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions about the AMSP and our work.
