MEI and the AMSP are running two competitions to support Maths Week England, taking place during the week 11th – 16th November. The competitions remain open for entries until 22 November 2019.

The first involves using Maths for Social Change, where students are asked to be creative with data visualisation. The best entry will win a £25 voucher and feature on our website and the Royal Statistical Society’s blog.

The second is a graph drawing competition using DESMOS. Entries will be divided into three school year categories:

  • Years 7-9
  • Years 10-11
  • Years 12-13

The best two entries in each category will win a Desmos T-shirt for themselves and their teacher, as well as a pizza party for their classmates. If you’ve never seen a graph drawn by DESMOS have a look at their gallery here. You can get information on how to use DESMOS here. For more information, please visit MEI’s competitions page.

Here are the AMSP South’s best two attempts… Don’t think we’ll be winning!

If you haven’t heard about Maths Week England it is taking place all over England between the 11th and 16th of November.
