This is a national student enrichment event designed to challenge your best problem solvers in Year 10. They will need to work collaboratively in teams of four to complete different rounds, each demanding a different type of higher-order thinking.

Across the region, six Year 10 Maths Feasts have taken place during February and March, with 45 schools and 251 pupils participating. If you missed out on attending a Feast, the Worcester Maths Feast will hopefully take place at some point, after it was originally postponed due to flooding and again due to the suspension of normality!

Some feedback that we received on our Maths Feasts included, “Thanks so much for a wonderful morning – as you can imagine [our teams] are still on a high! Many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into an event like this – mucho paperwork and liaising so it is much appreciated. See you next year!

Practice materials and materials from previous Feasts are available on the AMSP website.

The AMSP offers various events for students:

  • A mini-Feast can take place in your school as a practice for Year 10 or as a challenge for Year 11. It can be adapted to be shorter or to suit a wider range of prior attaining pupils.
  • The Year 9 Maths Picnic is similar to the Maths Feast but shorter. It is still designed to challenge your most able pupils, and can be run in your school or for a group of local schools.
  • The Dragon Quiz is a set of problem-solving challenges, and can be adapted for KS3 or KS4 and run in your hall or gym.
  • The AMSP also offers enrichment days and problem-solving conferences for particular year groups.

At present, no face-to-face enrichment events are advertised. In the Autumn Term, search events and set the Audience to Students and the Region to West Midlands.

Are you interested in these events? Are you interested, but would you prefer a tailored event? Are you looking for support to set up competitive maths events in your school or for a group of schools? Please contact your local Area Coordinator for more information.
