Since 2019 began, three large student enrichment events have taken place in Devon and Cornwall. More than 600 students from around 30 schools across the region have been involved. The events were hosted by Plymouth University, where Dr Jenny Sharp had a massive input, and by the University of Exeter.
Students experienced a range of workshops covering many different branches of mathematics, and were inspired to consider whether numbers were “created or discovered” during Ben Sparks’ entertaining and illuminating talk, ‘The Creation of Number’.
