Two Raising Confidence in the GCSE classroom professional development events have now been held at the University of Birmingham. Both events were well-received.

The third in the series of these events will be held on Thursday 26 March 2020, and will look at Higher Mathematics and how to support departments in developing their curriculum intent. These events are offered free of charge to teachers working in state-funded schools and colleges. Teachers that attend will have the opportunity to develop strategies and ideas that they can take straight into the classroom to benefit their students. Please visit the AMSP website or contact Martyn Quigley if you are interested.

Also coming up this term is a one-day professional development event that will offer ideas and techniques to support students with the maths needed for the STEP, MAT and TMUA examinations. This event is at the University of Birmingham on Monday 16 March 2020. Please visit the AMSP website if you are interested.

On a more general note, the University of Birmingham offers a number of events aimed at sixth form students. Inspired@Birmingham taster sessions on campus are run by the university’s outreach programme, and are intended to showcase maths as a degree programme and cover an area students wouldn’t have seen at school. Please contact Martyn Quigley if you would like to know more.
