The Proof Toolbox - supporting Higher GCSE and AS students in their development of Proof

Cobham

Overview

Students at AS level will have seen a number of methods for proof in their mathematical careers but may not have managed to organise what they have seen into a coherent set of techniques which they can draw on when needed. In this session we’ll look at the meta-skills of proof – not just the ‘how’ of it but also how teachers can transfer the experience they have built to their students

Aims

  • To support teachers in finding ways to develop students learning of proof
  • To encourage teachers to get the most out of the proof examples they use
