Matt Parker's Humble Pi
Our Winter Core Maths Festival is comprised of six inspirational talks by seven speakers. We hope that these will enthuse, challenge and enlighten you and offer a springboard to the creation of fantastic contextualised maths lessons.
Who will benefit from attending?
These sessions are designed to appeal to all maths teachers, regardless of how much experience of Core Maths you have had, if any.
We strongly believe that greater collaboration across departments can be hugely beneficial for students and encourage you to invite your science and social science colleagues to this talk.
Stand-up comedian and best selling author of Humble Pi
We are thrilled that acclaimed stand-up comedian and author, Matt Parker is opening our Winter 2022 Festival.
Many of you will have experienced the delights of his books and YouTube videos and know how relevant his work is to the teaching of maths in context. Matt’s book, Humble Pi, was the first ever Maths book to be a No. 1 bestseller and explores what happens when maths goes wrong in the real world.
In this talk, Matt will highlight gems from Humble Pi and his latest videos, igniting your curiosity and providing ways to get your students really excited about maths.
