Kent and Medway Teacher Network - Approaches to Problem Solving in Mechanics

Overview

The Kent and Medway Teacher Network is a composite of the 3 teacher networks which normally run in our region and which are expected to return in April 2021. Because it runs in an online classroom, it negates the gegraphical challenges that we would normally encounter with network meetings and allows itself to be opened up to the whole region. It is an AMSP funded project, allowing teachers of maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice during this period when our schools are closed.

In this meeting we will consider how best to prepare students for tackling problems in mechanics.

The workshop will be delivered by Toby Rome who is the AMSP Teaching Mechanics Course Lead.

All teachers of A level Maths will benefit from attending this event.

Materials and Equipment

The AMSP uses Big Blue Button (BBB), which is an online conferencing system that allows participants to collaborate in real time. It is easy to use and has features which enable a tutor and participants to communicate live on-line by using audio, video, instant messaging and, if needed, writing on a shared virtual whiteboard.

The session will be remote and will take place on the Big Blue Button platform, as such you will need a laptop/desktop computer or other internet enabled device. If possible please use a machine with a microphone enabled to allow for chat with other delegates.

We will set up the classroom and send you the classroom link, via e-mail, shortly before the session is due to start. 

BBB is designed to be used on a variety of platforms but you will get the best experience via a desktop or laptop computer, running either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as the browser. Note: Internet Explorer and Edge are not suitable currently.

It is advised that you check the requirements to access the online classroom in advance of the live session that you will be attending. You can do this at any time.
