Preparing Your Students For MAT and TMUA (Yorkshire South) - Online

With lockdown and uncertain times ahead the current cohort of Y12 may not have all the necessary information about MAT and TMUA entrance exams and how to prepare for them. The aim of this session is to give teachers information about the MAT and TMUA exams such as the background, purpose, format and entrance deadlines. We will also look at sources of material that pupils can use to prepare for the exams and discuss methods by which teachers can assist them. We will of course have a look at a few questions from these papers and have a go at some!

  • To give teachers the necessary information about MAT and TMUA entrance exams to pass on to pupils
  • To discuss methods of supporting pupils prepare for these exams
  • To give teachers an idea of the style of questions used in these exams

Who will benefit from attending?

Any KS5 teacher who wishes to know more about the MAT and TMUA entrance exams and would like to have a go at some questions. It will be particularly useful to teachers at schools who will have pupils sitting these tests this Autumn. Teachers who are experienced in helping pupils prepare for these tests may also benefit as we will be discussing how to help and direct pupils in these uncertain times.

Materials and Equipment

The AMSP uses Big Blue Button (BBB), which is an online conferencing system that allows participants to collaborate in real time. It is easy to use and has features which enable a tutor and participants to communicate live on-line by using audio, video, instant messaging and, if needed, writing on a shared virtual whiteboard.

The session will be remote and will take place on the Big Blue Button platform, as such you will need a laptop/desktop computer or other internet enabled device. If possible please use a machine with a microphone enabled to allow for chat with other delegates.

We will set up the classroom and send you the classroom link, via e-mail, shortly before the session is due to start.

BBB is designed to be used on a variety of platforms but you will get the best experience via a desktop or laptop computer, running either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as the browser. Note: Internet Explorer and Edge are not suitable currently.

It is advised that you check the requirements to access the online classroom in advance of the live session that you will be attending. You can do this at any time.

Don’t forget to bring your own tea and biscuits!
