Kent and Medway Teacher Network

GCSE Problem Solving - and a chat!

Overview

The Kent and Medway Teacher Network is a composite of the 3 teacher networks which normally run in our region and which are expected to return in September 2020. Because it runs in an online classroom, it negates the gegraphical challenges that we would normally encounter with network meetings and allows itself tp be opened up to the whole region. It is an AMSP funded project, allowing teachers of maths to meet, collaborate and to share best practice during this period when our schools are closed.

Aims

  • To consider some of the challenges students face with GCSE problem solving activities.

Content

An opportunity to do some maths, discuss the pedagogy related to GCSE problem solving and to consider some of the difficulties involved with delivering problem solving activities in GCSE lessons.

Sadly, I won’t be able to provide refreshments in the normal way, but I hope that you’ll be able to join us with your own tea/coffee and cake/biscuits!

Due to the nature of the online classroom, places are strictly limited.  Please complete the booking form on the flyer to request a place.

Materials and Equipment

Teachers will need a calculator for some of the actiities.
