Core Maths Festival
Our Winter Core Maths Festival is comprised of three one-hour talks by three inspirational speakers. We hope that these will enthuse, challenge and enlighten you and offer a springboard to the creation of, even more, fantastic Core Maths lessons.
Who will benefit from attending?
These sessions are designed to appeal to all maths teachers, regardless of how much experience of Core Maths you have had, if any. These sessions are also likely to appeal to teachers of other subjects that incorporate some mathematical content, such as Biology, Geography and Social Science.
Saturday 16 January, 9:30-10:30
Tim will highlight gems from his latest book, igniting your curiosity and inspiring you to pass these tools on to your students. Tim has even agreed to undertake a Core Maths question live in the session!
Thursday 21 January, 16:30-17:30
Algorithms; Mathematical models; Statistical analysis. These Core Maths skills are more relevant today than they have ever been. And one of the most engaging ways to learn about them is through sport! This fascinating talk will give you insights into what sport can teach us about ranking and decision making in every walk of life.
Saturday 23 January, 9:30-10:30
“It has taken a pandemic to put the issue of minority-ethnic health at the top of the agenda.”
What does the data say about racial disparity and health and how has this been reported? We hope this talk will leave you enlightened and with increased confidence to tackle challenging contexts in the classroom.
