Y12 Problem-Solving Booster (LIVERPOOL)

The format is as follows:

  • The day is divided into four sessions,
  • Each session begins with a very brief whole-group introduction, but the majority of the time, students work in small groups on carefully selected activities designed to develop their generic problem-solving skills and, as a consequence, their conceptual understanding of the topics covered.
  • Each small group is mentored by one or two trainee teachers from Liverpool John Moores University, who are briefed in advance about the content and about appropriate techniques to use to support students.

[Please note that this is NOT designed to be an exam revision class, but we are very confident that students will improve their ability to tackle complex exam questions as a consequence of their attendance.]

Who will benefit from attending?

Year 12 A-Level Mathematics students, particularly those who find problem-solving challenging
