Bridgwater Teacher Network

The modelling process in A level Mathematics

Overview

Bridgwater Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project, allowing maths teachers to meet, collaborate and to share best practice. We meet termly and the programme is mainly speaker-led training events and may include informal sessions.

Content

Following this year's A level and Further Mathematics examinations, all three awarding organisations identified modelling as one of the key areas in which students could improve when undertaking formal examinations. This meeting will offer teachers a chance to explore how some of the shortcomings commonly exhibited by students when modelling with mathematics can be addressed.

Alistair Bissell from our Teaching A level Mathematics (TAM) team will be contributing to the meeting. Please come along with your own ideas and opinions (and examples of successes OR failures from your teaching of mathematical modelling) and be prepared to share them.
