Teaching the Second Year of A-Level Maths: Pure Maths

Liverpool

Overview

A two-day course for teachers of A-Level Mathematics.

Day 1: Tuesday 5th November 2019

Day 2: Monday 9th December 2019

Aims

  • To examine the key concepts typically learned in the second year of A-Level Mathematics
  • To discuss a range of approaches to teaching the content effectively and engagingly, with particular reference to problem-solving using algebra,
  • To provide access to a wide variety of suitable resources.

Who will benefit from attending?

This two-day course is ideal for any teachers who are planning to teach the second year of A-Level Mathematics for the first time, or who have recently started teaching this course. We have assumed that teachers will be able to try out some resources with second-year A-Level students between the two dates of the course. It will also appeal to more experienced teachers who wish to discover and trial new resources and pedagogical approaches. A particular feature of this course is the special emphasis on the development of the overarching themes of problem solving and technology.
