A Level Maths PD Day - Year 1/AS Pure Focus

Overview

During the day we will exploring a range of teaching approaches and activities for a selection of pure topics from Year 1 A level (AS level) and looking at how some of these develop in Year 2. We will also consider the overarching themes of problem solving, modelling and proof, as well as the use of technology.

Who will benefit from attending?

New or prospective teachers of A level Maths, as well as more experienced teachers looking for new ideas.

Content

Topics will be confirmed ahead of the day but are likely to include:

  • Trigonometry
  • Exponentials and Logarithms
  • Differentiation and Integration

Materials and Equipment

Please bring the calculator you use with your A level students. It will be beneficial to have access to graphing software (eg Geogebra or Desmos) on a phone, tablet or laptop.

Eligibility

This event is initially open to teachers in state funded schools. Teachers in independent schools are welcome to sign up and will be allocated places if there are any available 2 weeks ahead of the event (21 June).
