Overview

Free one day event to support teachers delivering the level 3 Core Maths qualification.

Aims

  • To update teachers on the national picture surrounding Core Maths.
  • To engage with content, resources and guidance on the normal distribution.
  • To discuss best practise for starting up Core Maths in schools and colleges and for student recruitment.
  • To review the 2019 Core Maths exam papers

Who will benefit from attending?

Any current or future teachers of Core Maths.

Content

Session 1 will involve improving subject knowledge of the normal distribution, engaging with purpose built resources and discussing best pedagogical approaches for delivery. Will include experimental practical approaches and use of technology.

Session 2 will focus on supporting those new to Core Maths for 2019/2020 with how to get started, drawing on those with the experience of delivering Core Maths. It will also address the issue of student recruitment.

Session 3 will be an oppotunity to look at all the 2019 Core Maths exam papers, trying out some of the more challenging questions from the different exam boards and discussing whether the questions were in line with what we were expecting.
