Maths is your future: Year 10 taster day

The day will consist of a number of hands-on interactive workshops on a variety of mathematical topics. There will be workshops covering all aspects of maths including applications to engineering, statistics as well as topics such as cryptography and geometry, balancing a body and more.

  • To provide students with a taste of Mathematics beyond GCSE.
  • To provide information about courses available after GCSE and Post-18
  • To be challenged and have an enjoyable day doing Mathematics.

Who will benefit from attending?

It is designed for those students in your top sets as the workshops are designed to be challenging as well as enjoyable!

Other Information

You are invited to bring a group of year 10 students to this event, the group will need to be accompanied by an adult/adults from school who will be responsible for them during the day.

We are initially limiting numbers to 30 per school which will enable you to bring a whole class (i.e. your top set year 10 maths group). However, it is anticipated that these days will be oversubscribed, so we will ask that, should you have to decrease the number you initially applied for, you give as much notice as possible so we can offer the places to other schools.

The students will be allocated to the different workshops, we aim to have workshop sizes between 20 and 25 to enable a hands on interactive experience. Therefore if you bring a group which is larger than 20 we will need to split your students into two groups so that they attend different workshops - I am assuming that there will be at least 2 adults accompanying groups of over 15 so that all of your students are accompanied by a known member of staff at all times.
