Online support for MAT & TMUA Preparation

Online

Overview

This is an online course to support students from the East Midlands who are preparing for the MAT or TMUA admissions tests. The MAT is accepted by Oxford, Warwick and Imperial College whilst the TMUA is considered by Bath, Cardiff, Durham, Lancaster, LSE, Nottingham, Sheffield and Warwick (and as the CTMUA for Computer Science at Cambridge)

It should be noted that there are separate specific courses for the MAT and TMUA run by AMSP nationally, this course is intended as an alternative for anyone who is unable to take part in one of those courses for any reason. It should also be possible to take part in this course alongside the longer course for students preparing for the STEP paper.

There are a few changes to the course this year. The sessions will be longer with work to be completed between sessions. The earlier date of the TMUA this year means that for the first 5 weeks we will focus on common topics and primarily on the multiple choice questions. The final two weeks will look at the longer form questions for the MAT in more detail.

Places on the course are strictly limited and priority booking will be given to students from state-sector schools and colleges in the East Midlands region.

The online platform that we use is a highly secure environment. For the best experience students should join on a device which will allow them to access other packages simultaneously as we will be using Desmos classroom quite extensively. It is also crucial that students have use of a microphone to allow them to join in discussions.

Aims

  • To assist students in developing the problem solving skills to tackle the entrance tests confidently
