Overview

Our Core Maths Summer Festival is a series of online interactive workshops. Each session will provide contextualised resources and ideas which you can take straight to the classroom.

We would also love for you to join us at our Summer Conference in London on Friday 28th June.

Who will benefit from attending?

These sessions are designed to appeal to all teachers that wish to bring their contextualised maths lessons to life. No prior experience or knowledge of L3 Core Maths is required.

Content

Are you worried about the impact of AI? Are people around you talking about ChatGPT and you feel left behind?

As educators, the use of artificial intelligence in our practice may seem too problematic, but overlooking its potential could mean missing out on valuable opportunities! This session aims to show you ways in which AI can enhance your maths teaching. Come along to explore AI resources, effective ChatGPT prompts and different ways of using AI to support you in your teaching. We will also be examining how we can ensure that the use of AI in the classroom is carried out responsibly, whilst also being enriching and efficient.

Speaker

Jude Mortimer is a Maths Education Support Specialist at MEI. She delivers courses on Core Maths, Post 16 GCSE/FSQ, Adult Education and ‘Multiply’.

Materials and equipment

The sessions will take place via zoom. If you register for the session, you will be sent a zoom link one week before and on the day of the event.

We aim to emulate as much of the ‘face-to-face’ experience as possible and strongly encourage you to put your webcam on for some or all of the session. Please also come prepared to discuss and reflect for short periods in breakout rooms as this will be a feature of some of the sessions.

Due to the interactive nature of these events, they are not recorded. If you are looking for Core Maths PD that you can do in your own time we recommend our ‘On Demand Core Maths top-ups’.

Cost

The sessions are free of charge to all teachers in England.
