Overview

GeoGebra is a free online tool that allows teachers and students to dynamically create and interact with geometry, algebra and statistics. This session will build on your knowledge of Geogebra, and how it can be used to help A Level students better understand circles and trigonometry.

You will have opportunities to use Geogebra during the session, and will take away ideas and resources for your A Level classroom.

This is the third of three Geogebra sessions for teachers in the East Midlands:

Aims

  • To be able to use Geogebra to plot and manipulate points, lines and functions.
  • To be able to use Geogebra to measure angles, distances and slopes.
  • To explore how Geogebra can be used to aid A Level students' deeper understanding of circles and trigonometry.
  • To know how to access Geogebra teaching and learning resources.
  • To reflect on your own use of technology, and identify other courses and resources that may support further professional development.

Who will benefit from attending?

This short course is for current or aspiring teachers of A Level mathematics.

Content

  • Accessing and using Geogebra.
  • Creating and manipulating points, segments, lines and circles.
  • Object properties and Geogebra options.
  • Using compass tools, and adding tangents, perpendiculars.
  • Measuring distances, angles and slopes.
  • Saving and sharing Geogegbra files.
  • Finding Geogebra teaching and learning resources.
  • Reflections on Geogebra.

Materials and equipment

This event will be hosted in Zoom.
