We have rebranded and relaunched our three Teacher Networks in Dorset and South Wiltshire. The West Dorset Teacher Network is based at The Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester and we had our autumn term meeting on 14th November 2019 focusing on feedback from the awarding organisations on Core Maths and A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics examinations.
A similar meeting took place at Poole High School on 27th November for the East Dorset Teacher Network. At both meetings it was great to see maths leaders and teachers supporting each other and sharing their combined wealth of knowledge (and the delicious selection of cakes went down very well after a long day teaching!). The key areas requiring focus are proof, modelling and problem solving and so we created a whole-day professional development event on 8th January 2020 at Thomas Hardye’s School to support these foci.
Unfortunately due to low numbers we were unable to hold the meeting in Salisbury this term, however the South Wiltshire Teacher Network will be relaunched on 26th March 2020. The next East Dorset and West Dorset Teacher Networks will be on 11th and 12th March respectively.
