December saw the first Supporting Core Maths Work Group session held at Bishop Challoner, run in partnership with the Central Maths Hub. Teachers came together to work on some resources to improve their practice and collaboratively design some classroom activities of their own. The next session on the 21st January will see them engage with technology to support the learning of the Core Maths content.

The equivalent Supporting Core Maths Work Group for GLOW Maths Hub will begin on 14 January – if you are interested in working with some other Core Maths teachers in the Worcester region, you can register your interest using this form.

If you prefer one day of professional development, our excellent Core Maths Winter Conference will take place on 31 January in Birmingham city centre. The day will mainly focus on approaches for teaching and learning Core Maths, but we will be hearing from a representative from a (relatively) local university about the maths their undergraduates will be using. We will also have an in-depth session on our free online Core Maths Platform and explore those key areas of the curriculum that are giving Core Maths students particular problems.
