Ten teachers from across the country joined us for a Core Maths Online Support Group on Tuesday 9 February 2021. The group was composed of teachers who have been teaching the AQA 2A syllabus for at least one year, with the session supported by AMSP Area Coordinators Tom Carpenter and Lily Tang-Gentile.

Thursday 28 January 2021 saw the first of this year’s regional network meetings. There was wide variety in the groups represented this time round, ranging from Hub Leads and Advisors, to Heads of Department and Class Teachers.

In November, hybrid lessons were new to many with a number of teachers being expected to provide live online lessons while simultaneously delivering a face-to-face lesson. We did a survey and the speed of response suggested that this was a burning issue.

Two cohorts of teachers from across England have been meeting weekly for our Core Maths Common Topics LOPD sessions. In eight sessions, each 90 minutes long, the course is set to cover the main topics which are common to all Core Maths specifications.

The AMSP works with schools and universities across the country to support Year 12 and Year 13 students who are planning to apply for one of an increasing number of university courses that require students to sit an additional maths test.
