If you’d like to improve your teaching of GCSE Mathematics and/or the skills of your students, you can now apply for our suite of Raising Confidence courses.
In the autumn term 2021, we’re running four one-day courses that will all provide strategies and ideas to use immediately in your classroom, and will also provide support in developing your professional practice and that of departmental colleagues. The courses will consider how your department can develop its curriculum in line with the 2019 Ofsted Framework.
Our Raising Confidence courses will take place at locations in London and Manchester. The courses available to book are:
Raising Confidence with Higher Mathematics in the GCSE classroom
Aims to provide strategies and ideas for you to deepen your students’ understanding of higher maths topics, and to encourage them to study maths beyond GCSE.
Raising Confidence with Problem Solving in the GCSE classroom
Aims to share ideas and strategies for developing problem solving within your maths curriculum for all of your students.
Raising Confidence with Reasoning in the GCSE classroom
Aims to share ideas and strategies for developing reasoning within your maths curriculum for all of your students.
Raising Confidence with Technology in the GCSE classroom
Aims to develop the technology skills of secondary teachers.
To get the most from our suite of Raising Confidence courses, we suggest that someone from your school or college attends all of the one-day courses. However, it’s not necessary for the same teacher to attend four courses as they’re designed to support different teachers on different days and we encourage you to discuss the content of the different days to enable you to share good practice across your department.
All of our Raising Confidence courses are free to state-funded schools and colleges. Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of £250 to support staff cover and travel costs.
