Increasing numbers of universities encourage their maths applicants to take one or more of the Sixth Term Examination Papers (STEP). If a student narrowly misses their conditional offer, a pass in STEP makes it highly likely that the university will admit them. For Cambridge University, STEP is used as part of almost all conditional offers, and Warwick University may require students to sit at least one STEP paper.

The AMSP is again working with the University of Leeds to provide a programme of STEP support classes for Year 13 students. The classes are led by Dr Lionel Elliott who has been running them for many years. The sessions take place weekly, usually on Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm.

The classes began on 15th October, but we know many students only find out that they need STEP after this date. If you have students who would benefit from attending the STEP support classes, and who would like to join them in January, please email Shelia Eastwood for further information.
