On Tuesday 2 June 2020, around twenty teachers from schools and colleges in Stoke, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Telford attended this hour-long online virtual meeting.

The main agenda items were based around sharing plans and strategies for June and beyond, with a particular focus on plans for Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 pupils, the AMSP national offer of courses and resources, and support and Work Groups available from the Maths Hubs (SHaW and North-Mids). Several teachers shared their ideas, plans and resources. They contributed links to resources via a Padlet created for the meeting, and have added to that since the meeting.

Unsurprisingly, there were lots of contributions on ideas for the use of technology for virtual teaching and online support for pupils. Teachers have been using Google Classroom, Loom, Screenrec, Microsoft Teams, Kahoot!, Autograph, Desmos, Pearson resources, and sophisticated spreadsheets with links to multiple-choice tests to track pupils’ progress.

Feedback from this first virtual meeting was very positive, and we hope to organise the next meeting when we are a little more informed about what is possible for teaching and learning in schools and colleges.
