Either side of the Christmas holidays, in excess of 500 students from across Cornwall and Devon participated in university-based enrichment events in Plymouth and Falmouth. Students and their teachers experienced a range of varied and engaging workshops, such as the use of the wave tank and its applications, how letters containing coded messages were sent by prisoners of war and decoded by mathematicians based in Plymouth, and many more.
Students had the opportunity to see the University of Plymouth and University of Exeter Penryn campuses and work with students from other schools. Part of each day involved a short talk on how maths (Core Maths and A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics) could be used to support different career paths.
