Michael Gibson, AC for Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Darlington

Use of technology by both students and teachers is a key aspect of the new A levels. The AMSP are keen to support the use of technology in the classroom and to develop teachers’ confidence and skills in this area. We are delighted to announce that Tom Button from MEI will be visiting Newcastle on Thursday 20th June to help me deliver a bespoke Technology for A level Mathematics CPD day.

This day will have the following aims:

  • To demonstrate the effective use of technology in teaching A level Mathematics
  • To explore student activities for using technology
  • To develop your skills in using technology for statistics/the large data set (including calculators)
  • To consider strategies for integrating technology into your scheme of work

We hope that this will be beneficial to any teacher wishing to improve their skills and confidence in use of technology at A level. For those who have less experience in the use of technology, or no experience at all, we also have our Raising Confidence with Technology 1-day CPD course taking place on 11th July in Durham. This will focus mainly on the use of technology at KS4 and will assume no prior knowledge or experience.

For more details of either of these courses please contact your local AMSP Area Coordinator or visit the events listing.
