In October, we ran a Core Maths workshop at St Anthony’s Academy in Sunderland. This was aimed at teachers of maths and other post-16 teachers whose subject involves elements of maths. We had teachers from subjects such as sociology, psychology, geography, business, science, economics and DT.
Teachers worked in mixed groups on topics such as the interpretation of graphs, correlation and maths for social change.
So, a date for your diary: we are planning a very similar event at Durham Sixth Form Centre on 5 March and we would like to see maths teachers, and also staff from other subjects, working with their school’s maths specialist to discuss how maths can support other subjects in the post-16 curriculum.
