Across London and the South East, Area Coordinators have been delivering Core Maths professional development days for both new and experienced teachers of the increasingly popular level 3 qualification. Core Maths: A Fresh Approach to Teaching Mathematics was held in Central London on 8 March and at Kingston University on 14 March; a third iteration of this course is planned for 19 July at the Medway Campus of the University of Greenwich. Less than hour from London and well connected to Kent, we hope this course is easy for teachers across the region to attend; you can find more details and book onto the course by visiting the event description.

These engaging one-day courses are aimed at both current and prospective teachers of Core Maths. They extend the work of our hugely popular Regional Conferences, offering unique content that still complements the support offered by the AMSP’s other opportunities. A Fresh Approach to Teaching Mathematics is equally useful for attendees of our ‘Supporting Core Maths’ Work Groups, which are being run in collaboration with Maths Hubs.

Feedback from the courses has been very positive:

  • “Excellent experience: thank you for a well thought-out and well-run course.”
  • “Thank you for a very informative and helpful session”.

The day is free to attend and teachers from schools/colleges in Priority Areas are entitled to a subsidy of £250.

Keep checking the Events page of the AMSP website for more Core Maths support.
