East Midlands AMSP have two one-day Core Maths courses coming up next term. Both are designed to be appropriate for teachers currently teaching Core Maths and for those who are expecting to offer it in the future.

The Core Maths Winter Conference will mainly focus on approaches for teaching and learning as well as hearing from a local university about the mathematics needed on undergraduate courses. There will also be a detailed exploration of our free online Core Maths Platform and a look at those topics which are proving to be most challenging for students. This conference takes place in Derby on Tuesday 21 January.

The Core Maths Teaching Workshop, delivered by Catherine Van Saarloos (@CoreMathsCat), will look at how Core Maths can support other subjects with a particular focus on one topic. We will look at the assessment of Core Maths problems and issues such as dealing with a wide range of prior attainment as well as taking a tour of the wide range of resources available. This workshop takes place in Corby on Friday 7 February.

Whether you already offer Core Maths and are looking for new resources and ideas to support your teaching, or are considering it for next year and want to be well prepared, these courses will give you an excellent overview. Both courses are free to attend and there is additional financial support available to teachers working in a school or colleges in a Priority Area.
