Joanna Deko, Regional Lead for the East of England

In October, 26 teachers attended a one-day professional development and networking conference in Norwich for Core Maths. The event aimed to support teachers with meeting the challenges of establishing and sustaining Core Maths in their schools/colleges, and to experience interesting and stimulating ways of introducing Core Maths to the classroom. It also gave attendees the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow teachers, all with varying levels of Core Maths teaching experience.

A follow-up Core Maths conference will take place in Cambridge on 25 January 2019, with other venues also available across other regions. This aim to support teachers in the following areas:

  • Developing pedagogical approaches for planning, teaching and assessing Core Maths effectively
  • How best to use pre-release materials when teaching Core Maths
  • How to network and share ideas with fellow Core Maths teachers

You can find details of them on our events listing page.

These conferences are funded by the DfE and offered free of charge to teachers working in state-funded schools, colleges and academies. Additional subsidies are available.
