23 teachers from schools and colleges offering Core Maths around the region attended our one-day professional development and networking conference on 25th January in Cambridge. The event, which focused on approaches for planning, teaching and assessing Core Maths, provided teachers with opportunities to:
- develop pedagogical approaches for planning, teaching and assessing Core Maths effectively;
- consider how best to use pre-release materials when teaching Core Maths;
- network and share ideas with fellow teachers of Core Maths.
The event was well received, with feedback from participants commenting on the “good structure” of the day and the “very good sharing of resources”. One teacher said: “I am considering running Core Maths and I am definitely going to push for it now I have heard so much about it.”
Attendees also said that it was useful to speak to other Core Maths teachers to share and gather ideas, and that the day gave them the opportunities to have personal questions about the qualification answered.
