Joanna Deko, Regional Lead for the East of England

A series of Year 10 Enrichment events took place across the East of England region just before the Easter Break. Students in Cambridge, Colchester and Norwich were invited to attend a fun day packed with mathematical activities and inspirational talks with the opportunity for students to meet enthusiasts of their own age from other schools. Enrichment days are designed to help students see the usefulness and fun of maths beyond the curriculum and inspire them to take maths further as part of their post-16 studies.

Quotes from the days:

  • “Variety of activities, show maths at higher levels and how it is accessible still.” (teacher in Norwich)
  • “It was very fun. I would like to say thanks to the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme for giving students the opportunity to go to this.” (student in Norwich)
  • “Seeing where maths can take them and the doors it opens was eye opening for students.” (teacher in Cambridge)
  • “The Dragon Quiz was fun, challenging and we got to meet new people. The talks explained a lot more about different further maths courses.” (student in Cambridge)
