It’s not too late for teachers of maths to join one of our sustained courses. Courses that are currently open for applications are:
- Teaching Discrete Maths 1 (TD1), which starts in October 2020.
- Teaching Statistics 1 (TS1), which starts in September 2020.
- Teaching Mechanics 1 (TM1), which starts in September 2020.
These popular courses are delivered over six months and are designed to inspire and support those teaching, or preparing to teach, an AS/A level Mathematics or Further Mathematics qualification.
Each course focuses on developing subject knowledge and pedagogy through a combination of face-to-face study days and online tutorials and support. There are various courses available to book depending on each individual teacher’s needs.
Teaching Discrete Maths 1 (TD1)
- Designed for A level Mathematics teachers who are new to teaching discrete or decision maths, or those who have previously taught D1 but wish to gain a deeper understanding.
- Covers the discrete/decision maths material that is common to all AS level Further Mathematics specifications.
- Consists of nine live online tutorials, two study days, access to online teaching and learning resources, email support from a tutor, and access to an online group forum.
- Topics include Graph Theory, Critical Path Analysis, and Binary Operations.
Teaching Statistics 1 (TS1)
- Designed for current or aspiring teachers of A level Mathematics.
- Covers the statistics content from all major specifications for AS/A level Mathematics.
- Consists of eleven live online tutorials, two study days, a reference book to support your studies, access to online teaching and learning resources, email support from a tutor, and access to an online group forum.
- Topics include Statistical sampling and using large data sets, Data presentation and interpretation, and Bivariate data.
Teaching Mechanics 1 (TM1)
- Designed for current or aspiring AS/A level Mathematics teachers.
- Covers the mechanics content from all major specifications for AS/A level Mathematics.
- Consists of nine live online tutorials, two study days, access to online teaching and learning resources, email support from a tutor, and access to an online group forum.
- Topics include Forces in two dimensions, Connected particles, and Variable acceleration.
We are waiving our usual course fee/reimbursement arrangements so that all of these courses are free of charge to teachers working in state-funded schools and colleges in England. For others the course fee for TD1, TS1 and TM1 is £300. Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a subsidy of £250 per study day.
