We’ve added an exciting new title to our suite of Live Online Professional Development (LOPD) courses, which are all designed to develop your teaching in a convenient, stress-free way. Our new title, Core Maths foundations, will begin in June and aims to provide you with a sound understanding of the methods which underpin the teaching of Core Maths. It also provides the opportunity to interact with course tutors and other teachers on the course to discuss subject knowledge, resources and teaching ideas.

Core Maths foundations is suitable for a range of teachers, including those who’d like to review and consolidate relevant topics before training to offer Core Maths, those who haven’t taught maths at Higher GCSE or above previously, and those who teach subjects other than maths who’d like to enhance their teaching of maths skills in their own subject area. It’s designed as a foundation for Core Maths common topics, another of our LOPD courses.

The course will be delivered over four 90-minute online sessions in a browser-based online classroom, and aims to cover subject content that is common to all current specifications. Each session will explore how a different topic would be approached in a Core Maths context. Topics that will be covered include Percentages, Probability, and Taking the fear out of formulae.

You can find out more and apply for the course on the AMSP website.

All teachers are eligible for this course, however free places are available only to teachers in state-funded schools, colleges and academies in England. Applications for free places will be checked to verify eligibility. The fee for this course is £95.
